Bolaji Owasanoye
Professor Bolaji Owasanoye LL.B (HONS) IFE, LL.M LAGOS, B.L, is a Distinguished Taslim Elias Professor of Law at Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies. He graduated from the University of Ife, Ile-lfe, Nigeria, in 1984 with an LL.B (Hons) Upper Division and was called to the Bar in Nigeria in 1985. He obtained an LL.M from the University of Lagos in 1987 and he holds the following certificates: Legal Aspects of Debt and Financial Management from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research UNITAR (1991); Legislative Drafting, from the Royal Institute of Public Administration in the UK and the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies 1992, and Negotiation of international Trade Agreements from the International Law Institute, Washington, 1995.
He is a consultant to some key agencies such as UNITAR, UNICEF, ILO and WAIFEM. He is the Executive Editor of the Current Law Review, a journal of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies. Also, he is the editor of REPRO-MAT, the Reproductive Rights News letter. His areas of specialization are commercial and International Trade Law, Child Rights and Human Rights Law and the Law of External Debt Management.
He has been the coordinator of several programs such as the NIALS/Ford Foundation Rights of the Child Project (1992 – 1996), NIALS Project on the annotation of the Laws of the Federation or Nigeria etc, etc. He has published several legal articles in both local and foreign journals. Also he has presented several academic papers in divers law conferences, seminars and workshops.
Presently, Professor Owansonoye is the Chairman of the Independent and Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) of Nigeria.
