Chief Charles Uwensuyi – Edosomwan S.A.N. LL.B (Hons) Benin; LL.M, Ph.D. & B.L, is a legal practitioner of superlative standing. He obtained an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Benin in 1984 and was called to the Nigeria Bar in 1985. Shortly after his National Youth Service, he commenced private legal practice in Lagos, Nigeria in his indigenous law firm of Uwensuyi-Edosomwan & Co.  He is a Benin palace chief, and he holds the traditional title of the Obasuyi of Benin Kingdom. His areas of Legal practice include commercial law, intellectual property law, oil and gas, ADR and arbitration, constitutional law, election petitions, admiralty and general public law litigation.  He was appointed a Notary Public in 1992.  In the year 2000, he was conferred with the rank of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (S.A.N). Between 2003 and 2007 he was the Attorney General and commissioner for Justice, of Edo State of Nigeria.

He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, the body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, the International Bar Association and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK).

He has presented several papers in law conferences, seminars and workshops, including the famous Hon. Justice Idigbe Memorial Lecture in the University of Benin.
